Hey all Steven and I love to take long trips. This yr we are going for 2weeks from MD to TX and back with many stops along the way, never the straight road always the round about way. I have gotten pretty good about packing for these trips but I am always looking for ideas and things that I may not know about to make it space work better for me. We have two bikes our saddle bags are usually filled with extra oil, mini compressor leathers, rain gear, fresh snack, water and etc. That leaves a tombstone for each of us for two weeks.
Let me know what you do and how you do it.

One gallon zip lock bags are wonderful for packing on long trips. My husband and I travel on the Road King with a Tour Pack from New Orleans to New Jersey and out to Deadwood, S.D. The bags take up hardly any room and lie flat in the saddlebags and luggage trunk. I can fit 2 pair of jeans and 5 tees rolled up in one baggie. The second I put socks, pjs, undies, misc. and a third for toiletries, cosmetics, etc. I squeeze out the air so the bags are as flat as they can be with the clothing inside. Another good thing is that in case of rain the clothes will stay dry.
Unpacking the bike is a breeze; just take out the baggies, and everything is right there, visible and organized. The other must...lipstick!

My big must is face cream. I get so dry from the air. I use and spf 30 face cream. Lipstick is a must too..but usually just chapstick. I will try the gallon bags...thanks for the tip

One tip I've heard about but haven't tried myself yet is to use trash compactor bags for packing. They are medium sized and a heavy duty plastic. As far as unusual tips go I'd say that the recommendation to carry some duct tape is probably it. Makes sense though I guess.
