If you think that the back-seat of your bike is reserved for your “old lady” alone, then get a load of this.

A company called Beast Rider (http://www.beastriders.com/) makes a specialized basket for your canine companion. It fits on the back of your bike and has straps for added security.

Check out my dog blog at http://dogandogs.com for other facinating dog bits.

why don't you write them and see if they will send us a demo "basket" to film and try out.
Although your gigantic dog will be a challenge to get on a bike, we can always see what it is like.

Maybe you could put your kid in there.
One of the problems with strapping someone or something down onto the bike is that if the bike goes down, they have no escape, they can't fall off, and they can get dragged down the road with the bike or crushed under it.

I dont think Dojo is all that much bigger than the dog in the first picture (looks like German Shepard). There are few considerations when doing something like this from the operant conditioning point of view. The dog needs to be OK with the noise, new objects, new position, protective gear, unnatural movement or lack of (for the dog). etc. All this is an interesting challenge. I think it would be a cool thing to film the process and post it here.

Oh...and mrmld....you are right...I wonder if the straps have a safety switch (like on a jetski or a treadmill) and can be released upon impact. Other than that, this seems like a great incentive to ride really really carefully and stay out of danger zones. Also, maybe since its so unique, we might benefit from the extra attention. I duno...just writing out loud...lol
